EU Financial Instrument for the Environment

The EU-LIFE regulation provides financial support for projects that contribute to the development, updating and implementation of Community Environmental policy. Projects are supported in three areas, Environment, Nature and Third Countries.

This site will be updated regularly to keep you informed about developments - the latest news is available via the Updates page. In due course the site will include further information about projects from the UK that have been successful.

Role of Defra

Defra are the UK National Authority for LIFE. Projects are selected by the Commission on a Europe wide basis, to be considered all UK projects MUST first be submitted to Defra.
