Environmental Protection: Consultations

Note: This consultation has now closed. The following material has been left in place for reference/archive purposes.

Details of the Regulations and Directions made to implement the Directive have been published (December 2002) - see this page.

Consultation on the Implementation of Directive 2000/76/EC on the Incineration of Waste

The UK and other EU Member States have until 28 December 2002 to transpose Directive 2000/76/EC on the incineration of waste. This consultation is about implementing the tight control on emissions from incinerators to which the UK has signed up throughout the passage of the Directive. The consultation is not about the place of incinerators in waste management strategies. It is about ensuring that they continue to be tightly regulated.

The consultation paper raises questions for consultation and contains a draft of the proposed implementing Regulations and Directions to Local Authorities and the Environment Agency.
