Proposals for the Statutory Control of Odour & Other Nuisance from Sewage Treatment Works - Consultation

Note: This consultation has now closed. A summary of responses, and an indication of what actions the Government intends to take following the consultation, will be published in due course. The following material has been left in place for reference/archive purposes.

You are invited to comment on the Government's proposals for the statutory control of odour and other nuisance from sewage treatment works in England. (See also this News Release - 23 December 2002)

The proposals recommend an approach which will deliver controls and enforcement measures which are currently either not available or not effective in controlling odour and other nuisance from sewage treatment works in the small number of cases where a voluntary agreement on action fails.

Consultation Paper

The consultation paper is available in Adobe Acrobat format (100kb) for downloading and printing.

We would be very pleased to receive electronic copies of responses, by email, so we have additionally provided the response form in Microsoft Word format (75kb) for downloading and electronic completion. You will probably wish to save this file onto your own PC before completing it.

Further information is available on our Help page about downloading or reading Adobe Acrobat PDF documents.
