The document set out and invited comments on the Government's Strategy to meet the target for installed Good Quality CHP capacity of at least 10,000 MWe by 2010. It consists of three sections:
- the background to the consultation and an overview of the current position for CHP in the UK,
- a description of the package of support measures for achieving the 2010 target,
- the results of modelling that indicates the contribution that this package of measures is likely to make towards achievement of the target.

The Department of Trade and Industry's Cambridge Econometrics report fed into the Strategy, providing key statistical input (www.dti.gov.uk/energy/cameconchp.pdf).
The Government invited comments on the general approach set out in the draft Strategy and on particular issues indicated within the body of the document.
As of 22 May, amendments to Tables 1 and 2, plus the related adjacent paragraph to each, were made - incorporated in the printed version of the document and on this site.
