The UK is at the forefront of offering practical help with the accession negotiations.
What are Action Plans?
Action Plans are the main vehicle for UK support to individual applicant countries. The aim of the Action Plans is to bring together and enhance the UK’s practical support for reforms in the applicant states. It enables better co-ordination and targeting of the UK’s pre-accession assistance. Activities include secondments and information exchanges in fields from agriculture to local government reform. Progress across the range of activity under the action plan is reviewed at regular intervals.
The Plans bring together a wide range of new and existing activities involving most of the major Whitehall Departments, including the Department for International Development, the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the British Council.
All accession countries and candidate countries now have Action Plans
