Within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Eastern Adriatic Department is responsible for UK policy on the countries of the Western Balkans, (Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Albania, Macedonia and Serbia and Montenegro). The material provided here includes detailed profiles of the countries of the region.

This area also provides information on and links to international processes and institutions designed to aid reconstruction and development in South-East Europe (SEE). These include the Stability Pact, the institution for co-ordinating political and economic reforms and reconstruction in the region; the European Union’s Stabilisation and Association Process, which offers countries in the region a road map towards eventual EU membership, provided the countries meet the criteria of political and economic reform and the UK Conflict Prevention Initiative.
