JACK STRAW MARKS THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE BALI BOMBINGS (10/10/03)
The Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, said: 'Memorial services this Sunday will be held to mark the first anniversary of one of the worst ever terrorist outrages in history. On 12 October last year, 28 British nationals were killed with over 200 losing their lives altogether and many more were injured. They were the victims of an indiscriminate act of terrorism which has rightly been condemned by Governments around the world.'

THE PROLIFERATION SECURITY INITIATIVE SERVES NOTICE TO WMD TRAFFICKERS (10/10/03)
Following the Proliferation Security Initiative meeting held in London from 8 to 10 October, the Foreign Secretary said that the meeting represented another step towards achieving the goals of the Initiative: preventing trafficking in Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and associated technologies. He said: 'The PSI serves notice to proliferators that the international community is determined to take concrete steps to prevent trafficking in WMD and related technology. The UK will be working with other participants in the coming months to turn the PSI into operational reality.' The PSI was launched by President Bush during a speech in Krakow on 31 May this year. It is a global initiative with global reach.
