    Compiled by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the London Diplomatic List is an alphabetical list of all the representatives of foreign states and Commonwealth countries in London, with the name of the head of the Embassy/High Commission.

  • Home Office - Immigration and Nationality Directorate
    As part of the Home Office, the Immigration & Nationality Directorate (IND) is responsible for immigration control at air and sea ports throughout the United Kingdom. The IND also considers applications for permission to stay, citizenship and asylum. The IND website provides information on UK immigration control and what your rights and responsibilities are when you make an application.

  • UK Passport Agency
    The United Kingdom Passport Agency is an executive agency of the Home Office that issues UK passports to British Nationals living in the UK. The Passport Agency also issues visas for foreign nationals and Commonwealth citizens (who are already in the UK) to enable them to enter British Overseas Territories.

  • British Chambers of Commerce
    The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) comprise a network of quality-accredited local Chambers of Commerce throughout the UK. The BCC offers a range of services to Chamber members, including a telephone advice line, translation services and discounts with suppliers. The website offers links to local accredited Chambers and information on BCC news & policy.

  • DTI Export Control Organisation
    The Export Control Organisation, part of the Department of Trade and Industry, issues licences to export arms and other goods controlled within the UK and as a result of international commitments. The Export Control Organisation's website offers guidance on the business of export controls, official export control regulatory documents and a list of current controls.

  • International Relations & Export Promotion of the UK Agri-food Industry
    The International Relations & Export Promotion division, part of the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Foods, promotes exports in the agriculture, fisheries and food technology, expertise and equipment sectors, and assists in the development of efficient markets for internationally competitive food, fish and agricultural industries.

  • International Trade in Live Animals and Animal Products
    The Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Foods' International Trade website gives information on animal and public health aspects of imports and exports of live animals, meat and animal products, and offers information on health certification for the export of live animals and products of animal origin.

  • General Register Office for England and Wales
    The General Register Office for England and Wales (GRO), part of National Statistics, is responsible for ensuring the registration of all births, marriages and deaths that have occurred in England and Wales since 1837 and for maintaining a central archive. The website gives information about how to register a birth or death in England and Wales, how to go about getting married, and how to obtain certificates. The Overseas section holds records of the births, marriages and deaths of British citizens overseas that have been registered with the British registering authorities.

  • General Register Office for Northern Ireland
    The General Register Office for Northern Ireland, contained within the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA), administers the registration of births, deaths and marriages for Northern Ireland. The Office holds the statutory registers of births, deaths, marriages, still-births and adoptions.

  • General Register Office for Scotland
    The General Register Office for Scotland is the department of the devolved Scottish Administration responsible for the registration of births, marriages, deaths, divorces and adoptions in Scotland.

  • The Notaries Society
    The Notaries Society represents Notaries Public practising in England and Wales. Notaries prepare and authenticate documents for use abroad. The website allows you to find a notary in your local area.

  • The Bar Council
    The Bar Council is the regulatory and representative body for barristers in England and Wales.

  • The Law Society of England and Wales
    The Law Society is the representative and regulatory body for solicitors of England and Wales.

  • The Law Society of Scotland
    The Law of Scotland is the governing body for Scottish solicitors.

  • The Law Society of Northern Ireland
    The Law of Northern Irelandd is the governing body for solicitors in Northern Ireland.

  • General Medical Council
    The General Medical Council licenses doctors to practice medicine in the UK. The GMC website gives information on the UK medical register, standards of practice, medical training and complaints procedures.

  • Institute of Linguists
    The UK's largest membership organisation for professional translators, interpreters, language educationalists and those using languages in industry and commerce, the Insitute of Linguists offers validation of language qualifications and conducts courses and public examinsations on behalf of local and central government, industry & commerce, and educational institutions.
