STATEMENT ON THE BRITISH PLANESPOTTERS ON TRIAL IN GREECE (26/04/02)
The Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, said on 26 April that he was relieved that the British planespotters who were on trial in Greece will be free to return to the UK on 27 April. He repeatedly made representations on behalf of the planespotters since the matter first arose.

FCO Minister, Denis MacShane, was joined at Anfield on 17 April by ex-England footballer John Barnes to launch the FCO’s information guide for fans attending the World Cup in Japan and Korea this summer. Dr MacShane said, 'we want to make sure that every fan is well prepared for this experience of a lifetime... The FCO pocket information guide contains the local information, useful phrases and contact numbers you’ll need, letting you concentrate on the football'.
