About this unit

In this unit pupils learn to talk about which school subjects they like, dislike and prefer, giving simple reasons. They learn to comment orally and in writing about their school timetable and the times of different activities, including mealtimes. They extend their learning about how to use a dictionary or glossary, and enhance memory work.

New language content:

  • expressing likes, dislikes and preferences using (no) gustar (mucho, nada)
  • radical- (stem) changing verbs e ie, eg preferir (ie) + noun and pensar (ie)
  • adverbs of frequency (normalmente, siempre, algunas veces)
  • asking the question ¿A qué hora?
  • regular -er verbs, eg comer
  • the irregular verb hacer

New contexts:

  • school subjects and timetables
  • telling the time
  • mealtimes and simple items of food and drink

Alternative contexts: hobbies and interests; leisure activities; homes.

This unit is expected to take 12-15 hours.
