In addition, the library houses a unique photographic record of British colonial and diplomatic history dating from the late 19th century. The photographic collection, which also includes lithographs, technical drawings, watercolours and sketches, focuses on such subjects as colonial building and architecture and native people and customs. It also includes a portrait collection of Ambassadors and High Commissioners from 1960.
Members of the public are welcome to visit the library for research. The library is open to the public Monday to Friday 10am-5pm by appointment only. The library holds photocopying and scanning facilities, for which a small charge is made.
