COMMONS DEBATE ON WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION
FCO Minister of State, Brian Wilson, closed a debate on the Foreign Affairs Committee's Eighth Report on Weapons of Mass Destruction in the House of Commons on 15 March. 'In producing the report, the Committee has focused attention on one of the key security challenges facing the international community today,' the Minister said. On regional issues, he expanded on Iraq - 'a symbol of the proliferation threat' - and on Iran, the Indian sub-continent, and North Korea. He went on to express 'significant and growing' concern about missile proliferation, and set out the Government's position on the new US Administration's commitment to a missile defence system.
