Real stories, real lives: LGBT people and the NHS

  • Last modified date:
    30 October 2008

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people need to be treated with respect as both service users and employees

This resource has been produced as part of the DH Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality Strategy. It includes five modules: the stories included in each of module show the real life experiences of LGBT service users and staff, in the health and social care system.

The resource aims to support healthcare organisations in developing strategies to promote equality and eliminate discrimination for LGBT people. It can be used as a practical tool in training staff and raising awareness.
