Many primary care trust areas have signed up to implement ‘You’re Welcome’ and work to the national priorities for ‘You’re Welcome’ 2009/10. These include general practice, health services in education settings, contraception and sexual health services, and abortion service providers.
Since 2008, there has been significant progress in rolling out ‘You’re Welcome’, with the first tranche of services receiving their certificate of recognition for completing the ‘You’re Welcome’ quality criteria in March 2009. A programme of regional events showcasing You’re Welcome ‘in action’ were held in all nine GO areas in 2009; and in consultation with the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), the Department of Health is working for the application of ‘You’re Welcome’ within GUM services.
A range of local areas, health services, and professional groups have adopted the You’re Welcome quality criteria and have informed the development of guidance resources that will be made available during 2010/11.
Working through the nine Government Offices, using a regionally based network to support implementation, local areas are being helped to interpret and apply the ‘You’re Welcome’ quality criteria for making health services young people friendly consistently. This arrangement supports primary care trusts and children’s trusts to implement locally owned, sustainable arrangements for ‘You’re Welcome’. Request contact details for your regional network below
