Will of Edward Jones DD

In the name of God, Amen. I Edward Jones S.T.P. Rector of West Ilsley in the County of Berks being aged and infirm in body, but of sound and perfect memory and understanding (for which I praise God) do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testanment in manner following. My Soul I commend to God my mercifull Creator trusting through the only merits of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain everlasting salvation. My body I commit to the Earth to be buryed in the most private and lest excessive manner in the same vault in the Collegiate Chappel at Windsor in which my late deceased dear wife now lyes buryed. As to my Temporal Estate (my debts being first paid) I thus dispose of it. Imprimus I give and bequeath to my dear daughter Catherine Booth (to whom I have already given a Portion in Marriage) the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain. Item I give to the Reverend Dr Booth the sum of fifty pounds. Item, I give to my granddaughter Catherine Booth the sum of one hundred pounds. Item, I give to my grandson Thomas Jones the sum of one hundred pounds. Item, I give to my grandson Edward Jones the sum of one hundred pounds. Item, I give to the several Parishes of Hodnet? In Shropshire, Wroughton alias Elingdon in Wiltshire and West Illesly in the County of Berks ten pounds each to be distributed amongst the poore of the said Parishes. All the rest and residue of my Real and Personal Estate I give and devise to my dear son Edward Jones whom I make and constitute sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale this twenty ninth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred thirty six. Edward Jones, signed, sealed, published and declared by the Testator Edward Jones to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, Thomas Barratt, William Cooper, Jane Rowlec.

This Will was proved at London the twenty fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven before the Worshipful Humphrey Henchman? Doctor of Laws, Surrogate of the Right Worshipful John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Edward Jones Esq the son of the deceased to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods, Chattells and Credits of the said deceased he being first sworn duly to administer the same
