Quinquennial Review:
Update
The next
meeting of the Review Steering Group is scheduled for 2 August. The Review Team still appear to be on target
to submit their first report to Ministers in early September.
IT consultants PKF (Pannell Kerr
Forster) have now been appointed to carry out an IT
Review
as part of the Quinquennial Review. The key objectives of the IT Review are
that “by the completion of the project,
the following questions need to be answered:
- Are
the Service’s current IT Strategy, organisation, systems and equipment
including the effectiveness of controls on IT spend appropriate and
effective?
- What
are the Service’s plans for future use of new technology?
- How
could the Service make better use of new technology to improve the
delivery of its services and functions, including how to maximise the
value from IT and meet the Government’s modernising targets?
PKF started their work on 24 July. It includes interviews
with a number of key managers and focus groups made up of representative staff
groups. Interviews and focus groups meetings are taking place in London,
Birmingham and OR Croydon. The ATUS are being represented in the OR Croydon
focus group.
