Consultation on new powers against organised and financial crime

This consultation seeks stakeholder views, and explains the proposals for new powers against those committing organised and financial crime. The consultation is aimed at those with an interest in Criminal Justice and data sharing issues in the UK.

The aim of this paper is to generate thought and discussion of these proposals in order to receive views and comment. In order to achieve this we are specifically distributing this document to and inviting comments from:

  • law enforcement agencies
  • the Judiciary
  • financial institutions and regulated bodies

The consultation is also open to other government departments, interested organisations and members of the public to contribute. The full list of those whom we consulted in developing this paper can be found at Annex B.

Closing date for responses: 17 October 2006
