Information for the Press

Media facilities for the Advancing Enterprise conference to be held on 2 December 2005 and the G7 Finance Ministers Meeting to be held on 2 - 3 December will be provided in central London. Further details about the location will be sent to journalists once their accreditation for the event has been approved. Pooled television coverage and still photographs from the ministerial meetings will be made available to news organisations at the media centre.

Accreditation

Journalists can accredit for both events at https://www.g7financemeeting.co.uk from Monday 31 October 2005. All working press wishing to cover the meeting will need to be accredited. Accredited journalists can pick up their badge, which will be required to gain admission to the Media Centre, at the facilities on 2 December.

As part of the online accreditation process all UK-based journalists will be expected to provide a passport and press pass issued under the ‘UK Press Card Authority ’ scheme. Non-UK based journalists will require a passport and valid assignment letter or email from their news organisation, or publication. Requests for accreditation will be denied if applicants do not provide a passport number, cannot establish they are professional journalists or fail to fully complete all required sections of the application form.

To collect accreditation packs on the day, journalists must have their passport as well as a UK press card or an assignment letter from their Editor. Please allow enough time for security checks, particularly for broadcast equipment, when collecting badges and attending media briefings.

Media Centre

The media centre will offer limited journalist workspaces with telephones on a chargeable basis, wireless access for personal laptops, a small number of computers with broadband internet access, faxes, photocopiers and space for international news agencies. As space will be limited it will be available on a first come, first served basis. Technicians for news wires and other accredited news organisations may access the media centre a day early by arrangement with the media centre provider, which can be contacted at g7financemeeting@jackmorton.co.uk from October 31.

Broadcast Services

The Host Broadcaster, European Broadcasting Union (EBU), will provide pooled television coverage of public and restricted ministerial events during the G7. EBU will process reservations for broadcast editing rooms, technical support, satellite vehicle parking, and technical signal distribution and broadcast services. EBU will also handle reservations for limited camera stand-up positions outside the ministerial meetings. EBU can be contacted at hostbroadcaster@eurovision.net. Still photos of these events will also be available on a pooled basis.

Visa requirements for non-EU journalists

Please note that journalists from some countries outside the EU may require a visa to enter the United Kingdom. A visa for the UK can be obtained from the nearest UK overseas mission that offers a visa service. We advise you to apply for a visa as far in advance as possible. Without a visa you may be refused entry to the UK. For further details, please refer to the UK Visas website.
