Statistics on Public Finance and Spending

This area contains data and publications over the whole range of Government finances and expenditure. It includes historical data, recent data, estimates for the latest year, and current projections and budgetary plans.

Most data from previous years (outturn) fall within the scope of National Statistics; a Code of Practice that sets out key principles and standards for official statisticians to follow and uphold.

Key public spending series (public spending budgetary data and public spending by function) are updated three times a year and released in accordance with the National Statistics Code of Practice.

Details on the Government's forward spending plans are set out in the Comprehensive Spending Review and in subsequent Budget and Pre-Budget Reports.
