About the Picture Library

The Government Art Collection has a substantial library of images of works in its care, and these images are available for commercial reproduction or personal use. However, it should be noted that while most of the collection has been photographed in colour, some works have never been photographed and others have been photographed only in black and white. Please also note that reproduction may be limited by copyright. We now have an online payment system to enable faster processing of applications.

The Romance of the Civil Service (Charge Sheet) by R B Kitaj

R B KITAJ - The Romance of the Civil Service (Charge Sheet) 1967. This screenprint forms part of a group of works in which unusual book titles are juxtaposed with seemingly unrelated images. In this case, Samuel McKechnie's 1930 book on the civil service has provided the inspiration.
