Shazans Beef Burgers and Lamb Burgers withdrawn

Shazan Food Ltd has withdrawn all packs of Shazans Beef Burgers and Lamb Burgers because the products contain wheat and sulphites, which is not mentioned in the allergen information on the product labels. Also, the sulphites are not mentioned on the ingredients list. The burgers are a possible health risk for anyone who is sensitive to sulphites, allergic to wheat and/or intolerant to gluten.

Product name: Shazans Lamb Burgers
Pack size: 840g
'Best before' date: All date codes up to and including 23 February 2015

No other Shazans products are known to be affected.


Allergens: sulphites, wheat

This product contains sulphites and wheat, making it a possible health risk for those who are sensitive to sulphites and/or allergic to wheat and/or intolerant to gluten.

Our advice to consumers

If you have bought any of the above products and have a sensitivity to sulphites and/or an allergy to wheat and/or an intolerance to gluten, please do not eat them. Instead return it to the store where you bought it.

Action taken by the company

The company has withdrawn the products from sale and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the withdrawal.
