DTI action to shut down ticket agency

TRADE and Industry Secretary Alan Johnson has presented petitions in the High Court to wind up in the public interest three related companies known as Getmetickets.

The business of reselling tickets, mostly for pop and rock concerts and festivals, was conducted principally through various web-sites.
The companies are all based at Endell Street, London, and WC2H 9AJ.

The petitions were presented following an investigation carried out by the DTI’s Companies Investigation Branch (CIB) under section 447 of the Companies Act 1985. The petitions are all listed for hearing on 22 March 2006.

On the application of the Secretary of State the court has appointed the Official Receiver as provisional liquidator of the trading company Get Me Tickets Limited pending the hearing of the petition.

No further information will be made available until that time.
