Activity: Research the History and Development of Wind Power- and Predict its Future!A Clean Energy Source

Delve into the past - think of all the uses to which has been put (eg sailing ships, windmills, winnowing grain etc). Consider how and why these came about. Did the use of the wind vary around the world? What examples of the "historic" use of wind power still exist? When did modern electricity-generating wind turbines start to be developed and deployed? Look into changing design concepts and discuss their merits and drawbacks. Make some models to test them! How much power does the wind supply around the world today? Where are the best places to exploit the wind? Are there any ways in which we could make use of the wind in the future that are not in use today? Again, make some models as examples and test them! Consider the advantages and disadvantages of wind power from an environmental and other points of view.
