Connecting more renewables to Britain's electricity network

Go-ahead for gas fired power station at Carrington, Trafford
Consent was given today under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to Bridestones Developments Ltd for the construction of a 380 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station at Carrington, Trafford. The station has also been given deemed planning permission subject to 42 conditions agreed with the Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council.

Industry to tackle 2 million tonne electrical waste problem
WEEE Regulations come into effect on 1 July
New legal obligations on the electrical industry will from Sunday 1 July start to see more waste products recycled and not consigned to the scrap heap. Last year 2 million tonnes of electrical waste was generated in the UK alone, enough to fill the new Wembley Stadium six times over.
