Environmental Issues

This section describes the continued response to important environmental issues by the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR), in an Energy context. This includes work on Climate Change, Energy Efficiency, Smart Metering, Energy Services and Emissions Trading.

BERR also contributes to the Global Partnership Non-Proliferation Threat Reduction Programme that has important implications for the global environmental. The UK provides assistance in tackling the nuclear, biological and chemical legacies in the countries that formed the Former Soviet Union.

Much of this work is done in partnership with other organisations and Government Departments.
