- Working across Government to deliver innovation through government procurement;
- Science and Innovation network;
- Sponsorship of Foresight programme;
- Delivering and further developing the recommendations in the Innovation Nation White Paper and Sainsbury Report;
- Relationships with the Research Councils;
- Enhancing the profile and take-up of STEM subjects;
- Science and Society;
- Responsibility for:
- Technology Strategy Board;
- British National Space Centre;
- National Weights and Measures Laboratory;
- Design Council;
- National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts;
- Energy Technologies Institute; and
- Commission for Environmental Markets and Economic Performance.
