Looted Art

Question: Request information on the GAC audit of works of art in the possession of HM Government and 66 British diplomatic posts overseas which may fall into the category of "looted art". Case Number 11316

Response: The information requested can be found on the Government Art Collection web site. Here is a direct link to the relevant page: http://www.gac.culture.gov.uk/search/spoliation.asp In addition, the Full Search Page http://www.gac.culture.gov.uk/search/search.asp allows for searching among those works in the collection that were acquired from 1933 onwards and produced up to 1945. In the Groups box, under either Search for Artists or Search for Works, select "1933-45 group". This is included as an aid to searching for anyone looking for specific works.
