What is public sector Flex?

public sector Flex is an ICT shared service for the public sector offering a core desktop computing environment and a comprehensive range of additional ICT services.

For the first time, ‘Flex’ gives all public sector organisations access to leading IT infrastructure and services, at a competitive price, and all through a single flexible framework.

Flex promises to help deliver Transformational Government by improving efficiencies so that resources can freed up to focus on front line delivery of better services to citizens.

Benefits at a glance

“public sector Flex provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate reduced costs from a low cost desktop infrastructure with high levels of security and the ability to recover quickly from a disaster. We also get benefits from the freedom to work at locations of our choice improving our productivity and reducing carbon from travel. With an environmentally–aware design that reduces carbon emissions and regular green audits to ensure that evolving best practice is continuously incorporated into whatever we do, Flex can be good for the taxpayer, good for our employees and good for the planet.”
John Suffolk, Government CIO, March 2008
