Details of fresh sanctions imposed on Iran. The updated sanctions include restrictive measures on petrochemical products and equipment used in internet and telecommunications monitoring and interception.
The European Union issued new implementing restrictions on Iran on 23 March 2012. These came into force with immediate effect on 24 March 2012.
The new restrictive measures are Council Regulation EU (No) 264/2012 (which amends Regulation 359/2011) and Council Regulation (EU) No 267/2012 (which repeals Regulation 961/2012).
The regulations define the precise scope of measures agreed in January 2012. This includes trade restrictions on oil and gas products and on petrochemical products and the asset freeze against the Central Bank of Iran.
