The European Committee for Postal Regulation(CERP)

CERP is part of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications (CEPT). It examines regulatory postal issues in a European context, evaluating the influence of international politics on all CERP countries and establishing the necessary contacts within the European Commission for all postal regulatory issues, while trying to develop a common approach. The CERP also seeks to establish and maintain contacts with bodies and associations concerned with the postal issues. It also formulates proposals and recommendations, if appropriate, on the basis of results from the activities of the Committee.

Its work is organised through plenary meetings and four working groups considering Regulatory, Economic, UPU and Standards issues. Further information about the work of CERP can be found on the CERP website.

The Department represents the UK in the CERP and Postcomm (the independent UK postal sector regulator) works closely with the Department in contributing to the working groups of the CERP.
