Electricity and gas consumption data can now be accessed down to Middle Layer Super Output Area (MLSOA) level for each region in England and Wales and down to intermediate geography zones for Scotland. In March 2008 these data gained national statistic status. Further explanations of these datasets can be found in the accompanying note.
Users can also use the MLSOA Front End document to filter for individual local authorities as well as comparing the data from several areas at once. Due to its size (10MB) the file may take a long time to download. Copies are also available on CD ROM, which can be obtained by contacting Harriet Addison on 0300 068 5037 or by emailing Harriet.Addison@decc.gsi.gov.uk.
Please note: this workbook requires users to download the file onto your hard drive and "Enable macros" before it will work correctly.
The energy data suppliers have now granted DECC permission to publish the electricity and gas consumption data at a Lower Layer Super Output Area (LLSOA) level for England and Wales. DECC has already completed a pilot study, producing the data at this level for six Local Authorities:
If you would like a particular local authority to be included in the second stage of production of this LLSOA data, then please contact Laura Williams on 0300 068 5045, or by emailing Laura.Williams@decc.gsi.gov.uk.
