These are the sources for which the SIA statistical team have responsibility.

The Community Innovation SurveyThis survey, designed by SIA and carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), gives the most complete coverage of the UK's innovation performance.

Detailed information on this survey are available from the Community Innovation Survey web page.

 

SET Statistics

This is a summary of key science, engineering and technology indicators. These statistics are compiled by SIA from a variety of sources such as Government R&D surveys, research councils, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
SET Statistics includes data on:

  • Government funding of science, engineering and technology in the UK;
  • Funders and performers of R&D in the UK;
  • Outputs and employment of science graduates and postgraduates, and other employment data;
  • How the UK compares with other G7 countries.

The DTI R&D ScoreboardAn alternative source of business R&D information, the scoreboard data is sourced from company accounts, identifying the biggest R&D spenders in the UK and abroad.
 The R&D Scoreboard 2006
