Consultation on improving public participation provisions in environmental impact assessment regulations for energy infrastructure

Starting Date: 10-10-06

Closing Date: 02-01-07

This consultation seeks comments from developers and others on revised requirements relating to the environmental impact assessment of projects.  Revisions to environmental impact assessment requirements have arisen on a European wide basis as a result of the Commission Directive 2003/35/EC, the “Public Participation” or “Aarhus” Directive.

This consultation covers proposed changes to a number of regimes administered by the Department of Trade and Industry, namely those covering power stations and overhead lines, gas transporter pipelines and commercial pipelines.
