projectcentre is a service designed to improve programme and project management within the Department, its Agencies and NDPBs. The objective of projectcentre is to provide support, offer advice and give one-to-one professional guidance on managing projects and programmes. This support is available to all Department staff and members of its Agencies and NDPBs. We are also provide the first point of contact for staff within the Department, its Agencies and NDPBs for advice and guidance on the OGC GatewayTM Review process.
projectcentre has experienced project managers to act as mentors assisting in the appropriate application of project management techniques. For those requiring more information on project management these pages also link to the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Successful Delivery toolkit and PRINCE2 websites.
In the section on project management templates you will find standard templates covering the basic areas of documentation to help a project manager start and run a project. The templates contain basic integrated guidance on how to complete them and are consistent with PRINCE2, a standardised project management methodology.
It is important to emphasise that we are not advocating the rigid application of a complex methodology or set of guidelines. The best results come from an intelligent application of principles and Departmental guidelines to suit the nature and scale of the task in hand.
We need feedback on how useful you found this site. We would also like articles, links to relevant pages on the web on issues of project management, and your lessons learned from projects. Suggestions on improving the site are welcome.
