	The latest National Statistics on the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector produced by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills were released on 14th October 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

	Small and Medium Enterprise Statistics include data for England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and each of the English regions for the start of 2008. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 30th July 2008. Please note that an error was found in Figure 6 of the Statistical Press Release in July 2010. The PDF file has now been subsequently replaced by a corrected version and is accessible below.
