The latest national statistics on Non-Gas, Non-Electricity and Non-Road Transport Fuels (“Residual Fuels”) Consumption at Local Authority Level, and Total Final Energy Consumption at Local Authority Level produced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change were released on 30th October 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

The Residual Fuels release includes statistics on consumption of petroleum products, coal, manufactured solid fuels and renewables in the local authorities of the United Kingdom during 2006. The data are modelled for DECC by AEA Energy and Environment, and rely on a number of National Statistics series including UK energy and emissions data from DECC. Following revisions to the modelling methodology, the data for 2005 have been revised and are included in this release.

The Total Final Energy Consumption release brings together the residual fuels data with previously published National Statistics data on consumption of electricity, gas and road transport fuels to give overall consumption in the local authorities of the United Kingdom during 2006.

The latest releases update the statistics previously released on 3rd January 2008, which related to 2005.
