The purpose
of the Internal Audit Directorate (IA) is to provide a high quality,
professional review service which supports colleagues in the Department
and related client bodies in achieving their objectives.
In practice,
this results in three main areas of activity, which are:
a) To conduct
a rolling programme of risk based system audits designed to
provide assurance of the adequacy of the systems and controls
in place within the Department.
b) To offer
advice on developing systems and, generally, on risks and controls,
and
c) To play
an effective role in the development of corporate governance
in the Department and to provide a policy lead on issues of
risk management and fraud.
We provide
our services to the core Department, as well as to DTI's 6 executive
agencies and to 2 of its non-Departmental Public Bodies. While
the bulk of our work is in London and the south east of England
we do conduct audits in all parts of the UK.
We will look
to our partner to provide a team of suitably qualified staff to
assist us in conducting our programme of work, contributing specialist
resources as required: and to contribute to development and enhancement
of the internal audit function and to the continuous improvement
of our audit methodology and processes.
