W (Westminster Dragoons) Squadron, RY
W (Westminster Dragoons) Squadron is Central London’s only TA Royal Armoured Corps unit. Our soldiers come from all walks of life and are drawn from across London and beyond.
 We are ‘recce’ troops, the eyes and ears of the army, carrying out mounted and dismounted patrolling, setting up observation posts and gathering information on the enemy across all types of terrain.
We also specialise in the detection and decontamination of nuclear, biological and chemical hazards, tasks that put us at the cutting edge of tactics and technology within the army.
The squadron has an active social life, takes part in a number of prestigious London ceremonial events each year and enjoys numerous adventurous training opportunities. In the last year, we  have sent soldiers surfing in Cornwall, skiing in France, cycling in South Africa and parachuting in Canada.
We are looking for fit, bright and well-motivated men and women capable of using their initiative to work in small teams in vehicles or on the ground. You do not need to have any previous military experience. The Westminster Dragoons is also the ideal unit for those moving to London after leaving the regular Army or OTC. The unit reflects the cosmopolitan nature of London, with South African, Australian, Canadian, Irish and Jamaican soldiers within the ranks.
