Regimental Headquarters
The Regimental Headquarters provides the command infrastructure, leadership and skills required to command, control and maintain the regiment during peacetime exercises and on operations.
Recently increased in size and with the re-introduction of tracked vehicles, we are now recruiting at Trooper, Lance Corporal and Corporal levels.
Once fully manned and trained, RHQ will have:
- Command Troop which consists of 16 soldiers all trained to drive, operate and command both Sultan CVR(T) and Land Rover command vehicles.
- Regimental Aid Post which will provide medical support to the whole Regiment on exercises and deployments, and will be equipped with Pulse (wheeled) and Samaritan (tracked) ambulances.
- Light Aid Detachment to carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance both at Regimental and at Squadron levels.
- Echelon (resupply) based around the Quartermaster’s Department organising the support of the Regiment 24/7.
We are looking for motivated, bright and determined individuals who show initiative and practical common sense and who are, keen to learn the skills required in a fast-paced Regimental Command Post and to be part of a small, closely-knit team. Troopers and Junior Non Commissioned Officers do not need specialist skills when they join – all courses will be provided for you after you join.
A 2-year posting to RHQ will give you the confidence and training to operate tracked vehicles and long-range signals equipment not yet found in the Sabre Squadrons. You will also get the ability to return to your Squadron with invaluable skills suitable for both Sabre Troop and SHQ NCO roles.
Ex-Regulars in particular are invited to join the Regimental Headquarters directly, as their backgrounds and existing skills would open doors to many of the more advanced jobs and courses, such as AFV Commander, much more quickly.
