Interested in joining?

The Royal Yeomanry is recruiting now. We are looking for men and women to become soldiers and officers and spend their free time in a challenging, exciting environment. We are seeking to select potential officers as well as soldiers.

You do not need prior military experience, although applications from former members of the regular and reserve armed forces and cadets are welcome.

RY soldier undertaking a river crossing in DartmoorEvery soldier completes the initial Territorial Army training described here, after which they have the opportunity to learn many of the skills below:

• Cross-country driving
• Signals (radio)
• CBRN decontamination and reconnaissance
• Instructional techniques
• HGV and tracked vehicle driving
• Physical training instructor
• Combat medical technician

To enable you to carry out your role, the Army will pay for you to take driving lessons and gain your licence to drive a car, truck and tracked vehicle (if you don’t already have those qualifications) as well as training you in off-road driving skills.

In addition, there are opportunities for those with specialist skills to become bandsmen, mechanics, chefs and clerks within the regiment once they have completed their basic training.

We have opportunities for direct entry officers.  Click here for more information.

Please look at the Squadron pages linked to the main page to see where your nearest Royal Yeomanry unit is located and find out when its next recruiting event is taking place.
