C (Kent & Sharpshooters Yeomanry) Squadron, RY

Members of C Squadron working together as a team on a dismounted urban warfare training exerciseC (Kent & Sharpshooters Yeomanry) Squadron, known as ‘the Sharpshooters’ is the south east’s only TA Royal Armoured Corps unit outside of central London.  Our role is to provide specialist reconnaissance skills using some of the army’s most up-to-date equipment.

We cross train in a number of disciplines from basic infantry work, to cross country driving, to the technical skills needed for the detection and decontamination of nuclear, biological and chemical hazards, giving our soldiers a varied and exciting training schedule.

Members of the squadron have served in Iraq during 2003 and 2004, as well previous tours of duty in Bosnia and Kosovo. Newly joined Sharpshooters benefit from the knowledge that this operational experience has brought to the unit.

In addition, the squadron has an active social life and enjoys numerous adventurous training opportunities.  These have seen soldiers surfing in Cornwall, skiing in France, cycling in South Africa and sailing around the UK.
