The Band (Inns of Court and City Yeomanry) - Training
Our training as expected, mostly consists of rehersals - especially prior to undertaking engagements or going on an overseas tour. We train and reherse most Wednesday evenings for two hours at Holderness House, Clifton Street (nearest station Liverpool Street). Engagments and parades can involve marching, and this is also practised before such events.
All bandsmen and women undertake a small amount of military induction training on joining to ensure that we have a grounding in basic military skills, and in addition, we occasionally undertake military training at camps.
Every year we are required to undertake a series of basic military skills tests to ensure that we can take our place as soldiers in support of the Regular Army, should push come to shove. We receive training and are tested on first aid, CBRN defence and weapon handling. We all have the opportunity to fire the British Army's individual weapon, the SA80-A2, annually on the ranges.
