83 Support Squadron is based in Southfieds and is responsible for running all the administrative needs of Regimental Headquarters and the Vehicle Workshops. The Squadron also provides the infrastructure and support for the rest of the Regiment, and as such, we have many trades to offer.
In addition to the support functions, the squadron has a radio troop, D Troop. The Troop deploys detachments of up to 8 soldiers to any location and may be required to operate independently from the rest of the Regiment or as an attachment to other squadrons. Soldiers in D troop are good at not only their trades but also in navigation and military skills.

Quartermasters Department
The QM's department, is in civilian terms, like a large departmental store. They provide the Regiment's clothing, food, equipment (such as spares and replacements) and ammunition requirements. In other words, when we require things, the QM will endeavour to get them for us, and when we have finished with them, he will back load them for us. Without this very valuable department any unit would literally come to a halt. |
MT (Motor Transport) Department
The MT department look after the Regimental fleet of vehicles, make all the necessary arrangements for travel when using outside agencies, such as coaches, flights, etc.. and looks after the Regimental POL (Petrol, Oil and Lubricants) accounts.

Medical Department
The Medical department is run by the Regimental Medical Officer but is administered by HQ squadron. Like the chefs, Medics are attached to the various squadrons. |
Fun Activities
In addition to the valuable training, there is also a strong social life to the Squadron. Activities have included paint balling, quad biking, go carting, rock climbing, skiing as well as orienteering and football.
For the more adventurous there have been skiing trips, hill walking in the Pyrennees, and rock climbing in Wales. We are ideally located for those living in the Southwest London area
