First Day In A TA Centre
The first day you come and visit us, you will have a chat with the officers in the squadron, about what we do and what you will able to do in the future. You will also meet the recruiting team, which will take you on a tour around the TA centre. You will also be invited to come up to the bar and meet other soldiers and recruits in the unit.

Selection Weekend
After about a month or two, you will be asked to attend a Recruit Selection Weekend. This will teach you all about the army, and what we do. During the weekend you will complete a Fitness Assessment and undergo a 1.5 mile Run. You will also take the Army Entrance Examination and have an initial interview. The selection weekend is the First step and providing you have prepared with the aid of your Squadron Recruit Training Team, you will successfully pass this important first stage of your army career.

Phase 1A - Part 1
This is the next weekend you would do, during your recruitment. You will learn more foot drill and how to march. You will also learn how to iron your uniform and polish your boots. You will also get more presentations on the army covering many subjects.

Phase 1A - Part 2
This weekend is a refresher for the previous weekend plus going into more detail with your foot drill and marching, you will also be required to do another fitness test along with a swimming test.

Phase 1B - Part 1, 2, 3, 4
These next four weekends are preparation for your 2 weeks Recruits Course. You will be learning a lot of new things like Weapon Handling and Shooting, First Aid, Fieldcraft, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Training, Map Reading and Physical Training.

Phase 1 - Recruits Course (ATR)
This is where you put all your new skills within the army, you will be training with the best instructors to fine tune your skills, and go into a lot more detail, this is the main final course for you to complete to be considered as a trained soldier, and it is a great achievement at the end of it. The course last for 2 weeks.

When you have completed your Recruits Training, you will be introduced to your new Troop within your selected Squadron and begin your Phase 2 - Trade Training.
