71st (Yeomanry) Signal Regiment
The Corps Colours

If you are interested in joining 71st (Yeomanry) Signal Regiment then the first thing you many want to do is to come along and meet the soldiers and officers of the squadron for an informal introduction. Our training evenings are on Tuesdays, and you are welcome to come along. If you arrive for about 8pm and our training staff with be happy to discuss you future and development within the Territorial Army.

Being a communications regiment our role involves using and maintaining the most sophisticated communications equipment available to send and receive information. The Royal Signals also needs the support numerous of other trades to ensure we can operate effectively where ever and when ever needed.

This means that what ever you do in your full time career or what ever skills you would like to learn or develop, we have a vacancy for you.

When you first come to one of our squadrons you will notice is the team spirit and a camaraderie shared amongst your colleagues. Each and every one of them has trades and expertise needed within the unit, and they all have started just like you will.

You can also expect first class soldier and trade training, the army will invest in ensuring you to become a professional member of the team. The training period will vary depending on which trade you want to specialise in, but you will get paid the same wage as a full time soldier for the days you attend and that even includes the days when you are training.

The Territorial Army only requires you to commit to a minimum of only 27 days per year. These days will be made up of your weekly training even, and some weekends (typically one per month) and a two week annual camp.

The most important these days is being fit and active, but don't worry we are not expecting you to be super fit, as long you are willing to train and improve your fitness. You will have the opportunity to participate in numerous sporting activies and adventurous training, examples of these includes skiing, sailing, climbing and many more, and not to mention all of the usual team sports that you would expect like football and rugby.

To join the Territorial Army you would need to be 17 up to 32, if under 18 you will need your parent(s) permission. There are some exceptions for people over the age of 32 for an example, if you have certain specialist skills or previous military experience. The minimum age you may be mobilised is 18.

Please feel free to browse at our squadron pages, for location, contact details, recruitment training and trading information.
