Royal Engineers - Python

python1

The Engineers' Python has many times more destructive power than its namesake.

It's a system for clearing minefields, consisting of a rocket attached to a hose filled with explosive, which is carried in a special trailer.

The trailer is positioned 150 m from the edge of the minefield and the rocket's then fired, propelling the explosive-filled hose into or right across the minefield.

The subsequent explosion of the hose will clear a lane 180 m long and 7.3 m wide.

It's reckoned that in a cleared lane, over 90% of anti-tank mines will have been destroyed.

Trailer Weight: 136 kg
Hose Length: 230 m
Cleared Zone: 180 m x 7.3 m wide
