The Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE) provides battlefield engineer support to armoured battle groups.

It clears obstacles, crosses gaps and ploughs through minefields with 'Python', cross ditches and trenches with fascine, and clear obstacles with the dozer blade fitted to the front of the vehicle.

The crew remain protected throughout.

Containers at the front and back carry engineering kit and a hydraulic winch at the back can pull up to 10 tons. The vehicle also has a crane, and either a bulldozer blade or mine plough.
