All you need to know about a career in Scotland's new infantry Regiment:

Regular benefits

  • Non-contributory pension
  • 6 weeks' paid holiday per year
  • Guaranteed 4-year contract
  • Free medical and dental care
  • Sport and adventure training
  • Stability and housing

Career opportunities

Being an infantry soldier does not limit the range of skills and opportunities open to you. From driving to signals, from logistics to state of the art computers, you'll have the chance to pick the path that's right for you. Sport, travel, action and adventure are all part of the job for an infantry soldier.

Skills for life

The skills and qualifications you can pick up will be with you for life, however long your army career. Specialist driving licences, NVQ/SVQs and BETCs all show that you have the skills needed for success in your chosen career. Add this to leadership, teamwork and communicatino skills and you'll be an asset to any company or organisation when you return to civilian life.

We'll train you to be the best

You will be given 24-weeks' training before you join the regiment. The training takes place at ITC Catterick (Near Darlington) with 2-weeks' leave midway. Further training in your battalion will be challenging and will form the basis of your future Army Life. Ass well as maintaining your basic skills, you will have the opportunity of specialist training to gain recognised qualifications like NVQs, BTECs and City and Guilds. In addition there are prospects for promotion for those who demonstrate aptitude and commitment.

The recruiting process

We'll help you every step of the way. From your first informal chat to discuss the options open to you, taking the aptitude test to assess your suitability for your chosen role, to attending Army Development and Selection Centre and your formal enlistment should only take a few weeks. You'll have every opportunity to ask questions and speak to soldiers who have been there and done it. If you're a former Regular Infantry soldier and are considering rejoining, you may be eligible for a Rejoin Bounty and there is also a Recruit Bounty Scheme in operation for existing members of the Regiment who nominate new recruits.
