As
a member of the TA you will be constantly training, the types of
training can be simply broken down into the 3 categories.
Military
Training.
Military
training starts with recruit selection and basic training. It is then
a continual training programme to ensure that you are able to pass
your MATTS (Military Annual Training Tests). Throughout the rest of
your career there are further courses such as the Junior and Senior
Military Cadre's that train you to the next level of command.
The
British Army is a professional, high-tech operation and it employs a
range of complex equipment to achieve its objectives. From rifles to
rocket launchers, motorcycles to main battle tanks, the Army's
effectiveness depends on its equipment being fit and ready to go at a
moments notice. The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME)
make sure that it is. To that end we will train you in one or more of
several trade disciplines.
Work
hard, play hard is an unofficial motto of the REME and Adventure
Training is a big part of it. Adventurous training is non military
training that forces you to test yourself beyond your limits or your
perceived limits. It is designed to strengthen you as a person,
broaden your horizons, give you a sense of achievement and above all
more self confidence in what you are able to achieve.
