Do
I Qualify?
When you join the Territorial Army you
must meet certain requirements as laid down by the British Army and
the Ministry of Defence:
Nationality: You should have been a
citizen of the UK, the Republic of Ireland or the British
Commonwealth at all times since birth and should normally have lived
in the UK for at least five years, preferably immediately prior to
your application to join.
Age Limits: If you are between 17
and 32 you can join the TA as a soldier, 18 and 30 for a commissioned
officer but exceptions are made to the upper age limits for those
with appropriate specialist skills, certain professional
qualifications or previous military experience.
Academic
Qualifications: There is no minimum academic requirement to join the
TA as a Soldier. You will be assessed on your aptitude to be a
soldier and for training in particular trades. If you wish to join
the TA as a REME Officer you should have a Degree in
Engineering.
Fitness: You don't have to be super fit to join
the TA but you do have to be prepared to get fit. You will have to
have a medical to make sure that you are medically fit for training
and military service prior to starting training. If you have concerns

How
Do I Join?
The
most simple way to join is to simply call in to your local REME TA
Centre, most TA Centres are open every Tuesday night from 2000 hrs.
to 2200 hrs. (Wednesday 2000 – 2200 hrs. for 118 Recovery Company).
You are welcome to visit on these nights and see if the TA is for
you. If this seems a little daunting, call or email your local TA Centre
during normal office hours and they will make an appointment for you
to visit.
